Democrats Are Increasingly Rejecting Biden as a 2024 Candidate

Joe Biden’s prospects of seeking reelection aren’t looking that good. Even Biden himself went from definitively declaring he’d be running in 2024 to now claiming it’s too premature to make a decision about the upcoming election.

It’s unclear what the focus of a Biden 2024 campaign would be. Amid all the problems to manifest under Biden’s current presidential term, he’s got little to truly campaign on.

Also, since the president abandoned his previous commitments to bring the country together, this also won’t be a real focal point for a reelection campaign. It seems that even Biden is coming around to the reality that a 2024 run would be ridiculous and unrealistic for him.

Meanwhile, polling continues to show that more and more Democrats don’t want Biden running either, per Washington Examiner.

More Bad News For Biden

The president’s support within the Democrat Party is sinking faster than the Titanic did. In a poll run by Washington Post and ABC News, only 35% of Democrats and left-leaning voters want Biden to be the party’s nominee.

Meanwhile, an overwhelming 56% of Democrats and left-leaning voters want a different candidate to run for president in 2024’s general election.

With black voters, liberals, middle to upper-middle-income folks, and southern voters, Biden’s support is notably underwater.

Data also reveals that only 39% of Americans favor Biden’s job performance. 53% do not favor the job performance of the president.

Over the years, it’s been repeatedly shown that presidents with low job approval ratings tend to see their party lose sizable numbers of seats in the midterms.

A Clear Choice For Democrats

If the Democrat Party chooses to nominate Biden again in 2024, there’s a very high likelihood of them losing the election.

Were Biden to go up against someone like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the current president would not stand even a decent chance of winning this race. DeSantis’ star power continues to rise, with even some Democrats coming out in favor of him.

For a while, there were rumors of California Gov. Gavin Newsom planning to run for the 2024 Democratic nomination if Biden doesn’t; however, Newsom denies these claims, stating he’s got no interest in running for president in 2024 or even in 2028.

There’s still a decent amount of time between now and the 2024 election season. While anything’s possible, it’s very unlikely that Biden can turn things around, improve his public image, and make the case to be reelected in the 2024 presidential race.

If Biden bows out, there’s a real likelihood he could be replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, or some other leader in the Democrat Party.
