Democrats Attack Chicago Mayor for Making the Airport a Homeless Shelter

Even Democrats are growing outraged by Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

It has been revealed that she allowed the city’s O’Hare International Airport to be turned into a giant homeless shelter, threatening the security of passengers and employees alike.

‘Inhouse Outhouse’

Since getting elected in 2019, Lightfoot has been focusing on wokeness and transgenderism and it has been showing. In Chicago’s mayoral election on February 28, she is going to face eight other candidates, with a recent poll ranking her third.

Against that backdrop, the current social media outrage and even mainstream media outrage over the third-world situation at O’Hare International Airport are bound to create more trouble for Lightfoot. It may well help her lose the mayor’s job.

A recent report by CBS News quoted two airport custodians, Vonkisha Chatman and Catherine Thompson, who declared the situation was “out of control.” Staffers and passengers are getting harassed by the homeless squatters.

If none of the nine candidates wins over 50% of the votes in Chicago’s municipal vote, there will be a runoff in April. Lightfoot’s top rivals are two other Democrats, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia and Paul Vallas.

The far-left mayor, though, has come under fire from another Democrat, Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, who publicly attacked her over the airport homelessness crisis in a live interview. This was on the Fox News program “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

A seemingly fuming Lopez declared that Mayor Lori Lightfoot had allowed homeless people to turn Chicago’s international airport into an “indoor outhouse.” He painted a bleak picture in which the homeless were “urinating” in the airport hallways, as well as “taking baths” in its toilets.

‘Failed Mayor’

The Democrat councilor insisted the squatters were “making a mockery” of what the city of Chicago was.

Lopez acknowledged that homelessness was a huge problem, but condemned Lightfoot for making the airport a “homeless shelter,” while Chicago was trying to boost business and tourism or “bring back families.”

He added travelers arriving at O’Hare were getting “greeted” by homeless people with mental health issues, possibly armed, some of them nude.

Lopez even declared that Lightfoot didn’t care about the airport homeless shelter problem because her office is “17 miles away from it.”

The alderman insisted that Lightfoot was a “failed mayor” and called for a “fight back for” Chicago.

Now, there is a risk that whatever has been happening at the airport could happen in every neighborhood, while the city’s iconic parts are getting overrun by “gangs, homeless, and criminality.”

A recent public opinion poll by Mason-Dixon showed that 44% of Chicago’s voters saw crime as the biggest issue of concern in the city.

Data shows violent crime spiked by 41% in the city last year. Since the beginning of 2023 robberies have increased by 114%, compared to the same period in 2022.
