After what seemed like weeks of no big announcements regarding the upcoming presidential race, former Vice President Mike Pence filed his Federal Election Commission paperwork earlier this week.
He’s officially entering the race and kicking his campaign off to a start.
The official announcement is bound to happen later this week on Wednesday, with the opening event occurring in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by several interviews with the candidate.
Pence’s comeback on the political scene
This makes Pence one of many Republican candidates that stepped into the fray. While competition will be fierce, the left will have a lot more on their plate, seeing as they’re yet to present a competent candidate for the race.
This is my dog Pew Wee. He has a better shot at the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination than Mike Pence. pic.twitter.com/gKNoNWcEZI

With Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, Donald Trump, and many others, the Republican primaries will be a sight to behold. Between DeSantis, Trump, and Pence, conservatives will have a wide array of favorites to choose from.
However, this does set up quite the contest between Pence and Trump.
The two have been on bad terms ever since the events that transpired on January 6th, 2021, with the former vice president constantly criticizing Trump’s claims regarding the 2020 election.
Pence once stated he had no right to overturn the election back in 2020 and Trump’s rallying of his supporters endangered both him and his family.
Isn’t it interesting how the Biden Dept of Justice closed the classified docs investigation against then VP Mike Pence, but hired a special prosecutor to go after President Trump for his declassified docs?

Pence has his work cut out for him
Even though he’s bound to experience more than a few hurdles in his run, considering every Trump supporter sees him as a traitor, Pence’s experience shouldn’t be overlooked. He could easily compete with the likes of Trump and DeSantis.
As the former governor of Indiana and a House of Representatives member, Pence is more than qualified for the position. We’ll just have to wait and see how his campaign pans out.
That being said, the former VP was highly critical of the other candidates, especially DeSantis, whose approach he believes is far beyond what he would do as a conservative himself.
The DOJ declined to bring charges against Mike Pence even though he was caught taking classified documents.
Obama, Biden, Bush, and Clinton all took classified documents as well.

His decision to file the official paperwork for the presidential race was probably made after the DOJ declined to file charges against him on account of a probe into certain classified documents.
Even though Pence was fully compliant with the investigation, his decision to testify against Trump in Jack Smith’s January 6th probe is definitely going to impact his presidential campaign.
Pence isn’t the last candidate we’re expecting to see enter the race. Many have suggested that New Jersey and North Dakota Governors Chris Christie & Doug Burgum will also be filing their documentation later in the week.
