Highly-Promising ‘Passion of the Christ’ Sequel Set to Shoot

Almost two decades later, a highly anticipated and seemingly highly promising sequel of the cult film “The Passion of the Christ” is set to start shooting this spring. It is likely to make the story of Jesus Christ’s resurrection more tangible than ever, a report says.

Sequel Would Be ‘Biggest Film’ in World History

The Passion of the Christ, which was directed by Mel Gibson and starred James Caviezel, was released on Lent, February 25, 2004.

The film was in 3,006 theaters throughout the United States and made $26.5 million on its first day. That grew to $125 million by Monday and totaled $370 million during its domestic run, plus another $241 million overseas.

The movie was produced at the cost of only $30 million.

A report by Breitbart News’ commentator John Nolte says the sequel entitled “Resurrection” will start filming in the late spring or over the summer, with Gibson returning as director and Jim Caviezel in the role of Jesus Christ.

Gibson and Randall Wallace, the Braveheart screenwriter, are said to be on their sixth draft of the sequel screenplay. The new movie will concentrate on the 24 hours during Jesus’ passion and the three days from his crucifixion until his resurrection.

Nolte notes that the last news about the sequel’s development was three years back when Caviezel said the film would look into a part of Christ’s last 40 days on earth after his resurrection. At the time, the script was undergoing its fifth draft.

Back then, in March 2020, Caviezel claimed that The Passion of the Christ sequel would be a “masterpiece” and “the biggest film” in the history of the world.

The commentator hypothesizes that “Resurrection” could be prepared in time to be released on Lent 2024, which will be on February 14, 2024.

‘Brilliant, Artistic Achievement’ Infuriated the Enemies of Christianity

In his commentary on the exciting news about The Passion of the Christ sequel, Nolte points out 20 years ago, when the first movie was made, Hollywood didn’t want “any part of it.”

He insists Hollywood is even more “out of touch” and filled with even more anti-Christian hate today than it was back then.

The author asserts that any “controversies” surrounding the first film were precisely that – made-up pretexts for projecting hatred against Christianity.

He calls any claims of “anti-Semitism” in the movie “all lies,” whereas the life-like portrayal of Christ’s passions in the film actually “changed the world forever.”

Nolte goes so far as to declare the Mel Gibson film has been the most “monumental” event in secular or religious history.

He claims the horrifying violence in the film was the “most vital” part of it since it depicted vividly how Christ voluntarily succumbed to unspeakable horrors to assume humanity’s sins upon himself.

The Breitbart News author emphasizes it was precisely the “brilliant, artistic achievement” of The Passion of the Christ which made sense of the faith and utterly upset its critics and the haters of Christianity.

Nolte hopes that after Resurrection, Mel Gibson would also film an adaptation of Acts to tell the story of the Apostles after Christ’s ascension.
