California’s slow vote counts are giving Donald Trump a political opening, and federal prosecutors are now saying there are active election-fraud investigations in Los Angeles County.
Quick Take
- California’s heavy mail-ballot system slows reporting and makes late shifts look suspicious even when they are procedural[4][7].
- A Trump-appointed federal prosecutor said his office has open election-fraud investigations and expects charges soon[4].
- Authorities also cited a recent case involving false voter-registration activity tied to homeless people in downtown Los Angeles[4].
- State officials and reporting say delayed counts are normal in California and do not prove widespread cheating[3][4][7].
Why California’s Count Becomes a National Story
California’s election system turns ordinary counting delays into a national spectacle because so many voters use mail ballots and each one must be verified before it is tallied. CNN reported that about 80 percent of California voters return ballots by mail, while Los Angeles County alone has 5.9 million registered voters, more than 41 states[4]. That scale helps explain why results can take days, and why Trump can use the delay to fuel fraud claims.
The latest reporting also shows why the state remains a prime target for election controversy. First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli said his office has “multiple election fraud investigations underway” and is looking to bring charges soon, while also acknowledging that federal prosecutors monitor every election for fraud[4]. In the same report, Essayli said the office recently charged one case involving a person accused of registering homeless people at false addresses in downtown Los Angeles[4].
What the Evidence Actually Shows
The strongest facts in the record point to a mixed picture: there are real fraud investigations, but no proof here of a statewide scheme that changed outcomes. CNN said it is unknown whether fraud is widespread enough to affect results, and reporting from ABC News described Trump’s accusations as unsupported[3][7]. The available material shows a prosecuted case and open investigations, not evidence of systemic tampering across California elections[3][4].
That distinction matters because California’s late-counting process has a mundane explanation. State rules allow ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted after they arrive, and officials say signature verification takes time[3][4]. Los Angeles County’s election data also showed that results can come in batches that appear to favor one candidate before later updates fill in the rest[1]. Slow reporting is frustrating, but the reporting does not show that slowness equals fraud[1][3][4].

Why Trump’s Message Still Lands
Trump’s argument resonates because many voters see delayed results and instinctively suspect manipulation, especially after years of distrust in institutions. The problem for his critics is that California’s own structure does create conditions that look chaotic to the public: universal vote-by-mail, late-arriving ballots, and lengthy verification steps[4][7]. That gives Trump a ready-made contrast between bureaucratic delay and the demand for clean, fast, and transparent elections that ordinary Americans expect.
Still, the reporting also undercuts any claim that delay alone proves cheating. The Los Angeles Times said a recent online theory was based on a misreading of vote data, not on a batch of zero-vote totals for any candidate[1]. California officials and election experts have repeatedly said the state’s long count is predictable and tied to mail-ballot rules, not evidence of a rigged process[3][4]. The facts support scrutiny, not wild leaps.

CA didn’t have this problem until “emergency measures” for Kung Flu. While I voted absentee for years because of work travel, I had to request that privilege separately.
They are not dealing with a mentally declining Joe Biden. This is President Trump, he is the man!
The corrupt mainstream media is doing its best to protect the fraudulent voting which continues in this country. CNN or maybe the communist news network, is not the one to judge whether or not there is fraud going on. Years of nothing but outright one sided leftist propaganda have been the hallmark of CNN. It is not a news agency, it is a propaganda outlet followed by the other mainstream propaganda outlets proclaiming to be news outlets.
